Ephesians 6:11 tells us to put on the armour of God… you know this scripture…. It tells us to put on ALL our armour from head to toe, but it gives us just one weapon, one weapon which is the sword – the Word of God.

Jesus went into battle with satan after he fasted for 40 days and there were 3 times Jesus pulled the sword at swung it at satan when he tried to tempt Him.  The three scriptures Jesus swung were from Duet: 8:3;   6:16;   6:13 In each scripture He told satan that  it is written.

Matthew 4:4-10  But He answered and said, “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,  and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

He shall give His angels charge over you,

and,

In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.”

Jesus said to him, “It is written again, you shall not tempt the Lord your God.”

Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.  And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.”

Then the devil departed from Jesus and angels came and ministered to Him.

Jesus kept his cool during this battle. He knew the power of the Word; he didn’t need to raise His voice. He just spoke confidently and remained in total control. We too have to remain confident and in control. We need to pull the sword and swing it. And keep swinging it. You will more than likely need to take more than one swing of the sword. There are few times when one swing is the victory. Nevertheless swing we must for as many times as it takes!

Knowing that God’s Word is alive, active, operative, energising and effective makes all the difference in our level of perseverance.  Persevere and you will have the victory! Amen!

May you have a deeper revelation today that the Word of God works in you if you believe.  It will stir you, prod you and encourage you. Praise God!
