Silence and stillness go hand in hand so we can focus on the presence of God and to hear His “still, small voice.” Coming closer to God through meditation, prayer and worship daily enables us to build a close relationship with God. Our Lord Jesus, in the presence of His disciples, displays the authority to still the waters and silence the thundering of the waves as a great storm threatens to swamp their boat. He rebukes the wind and the sea: “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mk 4:39). To experience a great calm whether on the open sea or in the human heart, we require stillness. And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. (1 Kings 19:12). They send us out in search of answers to questions that have always puzzled us since time immemorial. Some go to great extremes to find answers to their biblical questions in an attempt to prove the Bible wrong; there is no way this or that could have possibly happened, they say. Yet many who have attempted to climb this mountain have had to admit defeat when answers are demonstrated with supporting historical facts that are unquestionable. Have you arrived at a time on your journey where you are no longer content to remain in limbo with basic Bible knowledge? Many people are at that place and it is holding them back from all God has for them and all God what them to do. Eventually the need to wade out from the shores into deeper and challenging water will take hold of you and you will want to implant God’s Word deeper within you. That’s how God works with those who have ears to hear. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
