OUR CORE BELIEFS THRIVE Christian Community Inc. is a Christ-centred interdenominational community. We believe the Bible is the only complete and infallible written Word of God; that truth begins and ends with God’s Word. What we mean by Christ-centred: If Jesus said it, we believe it; if Jesus modeled it, we want to live it; if Jesus commanded it, we want to obey it. We believe everything Jesus practiced and preached is as relevant for us today as it was during the time of His earthly life and ministry. In order to stay as true as possible to the patterns of church life in the New Testament, we chose to avoid denominational labels and doctrines that identify us with one group exclusively. All people matter to God. What we believe about Jesus Christ The Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God; We believe in His virgin birth, humanity, deity, His sinless life. His earthly life and ministry demonstrated and proved this: all people matter to God; that if anyone wants to come to God, they must first invite Jesus Christ to be the Savior and Lord of their life. We believe Christ is the head of the Church, and we at Thrive Christian Community Inc. are His Body. We believe in His atoning death for the sins of the world. What we believe about the Holy Spirit At the time of Christ’s ascension into heaven, He promised to send the gift of the Holy Spirit to His disciples. We believe the Holy Spirit is fully activated in a person’s life at salvation. We believe the Holy Spirit’s presence and influence is ever-changing as we walk with Him. Therefore, we are to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. We also believe God still speaks to us today through His Holy Spirit. Therefore our Mission is: To make disciples for Jesus Christ. We believe the pattern of the New Testament teaches that Christ is the Head of the Church. We believe all decisions and direction must come through and be confirmed by Him, through His Word and by His Holy Spirit. At Thrive Christian Community Inc. we believe all members are ministers of Christ and the work of the ministry is done by them, assigned by God, and carried out as the result of the unique spiritual gifts each person has received from God. We will continue to be messengers of the Gospel For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. – John 3:16 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” – Luke 19:10 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9 We will continue to be instructed by God’s Word All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. – Psalm 119:105 We will be faithful in worship Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples. For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; Worship the Lord in holy array. Tremble before Him, all the earth; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” – 1 Chronicles 16:23-31 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the dominion, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. Both riches and honour come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone. Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name. – 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 We will continue to be people of compassion Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. – Isaiah 1:17 Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him. – Isaiah 30:18 And if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday. – Isaiah 58:10 “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favourable year of the Lord.” – Luke 4:18-19 We will continue to be devoted to prayer Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; – Colossians 4:2 Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling, saying to them, “It is written, ‘and … Continue reading What we believe
